Temporary train timetable on the Echuca Line

11 Feb - 21 Feb 2025

Due to track upgrade works, temporary speed restrictions will be in place on the Echuca Line from Tuesday 11 February to Friday 21 February.

Trains will run at slower than normal speeds on a section of the line to allow the tracks to bed down.

Trains will depart 5 minutes earlier so please plan ahead and check the temporary train timetable before you travel.

The following trains to Melbourne will depart Epsom Station 5 minutes earlier – please note these early departures apply to Epsom Station only. Trains will run to the usual timetable from Bendigo Station onwards:

Night works around Sunshine

Bendigo line, Geelong line, Ballarat line

V/Line is carrying out important track maintenance works between Tottenham and Sunshine at various times over the next few months

V/Line crews will be replacing timber bearers in this area between 9.00pm and 7.00am on the following dates.

• Saturday 26 October
• Saturday 23 November
• Saturday 7 December
• Saturday 15 February

Drainage and pruning works along the Echuca Line

20 Jan - 31 Mar 2025

V/Line is completing drainage and vegetation works at different locations in the rail corridor between Goornang and Echuca from Monday 20 January to late March. 

Drainage works at each location should take approximately 4 days and will take place Monday to Friday between 7.00am and 7.00pm. 

Vegetation pruning will begin mid February and last for approximately three weeks. Works will take place between 7.00am and 7.00pm each day.

What to be aware of

There will be an increase in workers, machinery and heavy vehicles in each area. Please observe all safety signage in place.

Wakeman Road level crossing closure

20 Jan - 31 Mar 2025

Bendigo line

V/Line is carrying out maintenance and drainage works near Huntly Station from Monday 20 January to late March. Works will take place Monday to Friday between 7.00am and 7.00pm.

While work is completed the Wakeman Road level crossing will be closed. Access to Huntly Station will be via the Waratah/Tuckers Road side of Wakeman Road only.

Traffic detours will be in place.

Reduced parking at Huntly Station
There will be reduced parking at Huntly Station. 

Passengers should allow extra travel time.

Car park changes at Bendigo Station

8 Feb - 6 Mar 2025

Bendigo line

V/Line is carrying out maintenance works in the Railway Place car park at Bendigo Station from Saturday 8 February until Thursday 6 March.

During this time there will be changes to car parking at the station. 
 
80 car spaces will be closed from Saturday 8 February until Sunday 16 February.

45 car spaces will be closed from Sunday 16 February until Thursday 6 March.

Car spaces are available in the V/Line car park in McLaren Street.
 
Passengers should allow extra travel time.

Signage and wayfinding will be located around the station to help you understand these changes and access the station safely.

Upgrade works near Nolan Street, Bendigo

22 Feb - 5 Mar 2025

Bendigo line

V/Line crews will carry out maintenance and upgrade works near Nolan Street in Bendigo from 22 February to 5 March.

What are we doing

Crews will work around the clock to complete track and turnout renewal works to maintain the structural integrity of the line. Works will include turnout renewlas, track inspections, formation works and handrail installation.

What to be aware of

During round the clock works, there will be construction noise and dust generated due to the use of excavation equipment and the movement of machinery.

Works during the night will also require additional lighting around the site.

There will be significant levels of noise during the night on Wednesday 26 February from 7pm to 7am due to tamping and compacting works taking place.

Due to handrail installation works, the footpath accessible via Nolan Street will be temporarily closed to pedestrians from 24 February until 28 February, reopening on 1 March. There will be signage and detours in place.

Works along the Bendigo Line

23 Feb - 2 Mar 2025

Bendigo line

V/Line crews will carry out maintenance and upgrade works at various parts along the Bendigo Line while coaches are replacing trains along the line.

What we are doing

Crews will move progressively along the line to inspect and load ballast for mudhole removal works starting near Woodend Station on 23 February and finishing in Bendigo on 2 March.

During this time, the following level crossings will be closed at various locations to allow crews to complete important upgrade works.

• 7am to 5pm, 22 February: Parker Street, Castlemaine
• 7am 27 February until 4pm 28 February: Reillys Road and Quinns Road, Woodvale
• 7am to 4pm, 28 February: Potts Road, Taradale
• 7am to 4pm, 1 March: Ritchies Road, Kyneton

Traffic management, signage and diversions will be in place. Residents should allow extra time when traveling through the area. Note that the Parker Street, Castlemaine level crossing will still be accessible by pedestrians.

What to be aware of

During day and night works, there will be construction noise and dust generated due to the use of excavation equipment and the movement of machinery.

There will be no extra lighting used during these works, however vehicles operating at night will have their headlights and flashing visibility lights on.

The temporary closure of the level crossings will mean there will be traffic management, detours and signage in place during those times.

Coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line

Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line from Sunday 16 February to Tuesday 18 February.  

Sunday 16 February

From Southern Cross Station:
From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Southern Cross to Waurn Ponds for the entire journey.
 
From Waurn Ponds:
From 9.00pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Waurn Ponds/Geelong to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 February

From Southern Cross Station:
The 5.32pm Southern Cross to Waurn Ponds train will terminate at Geelong. Passengers travelling through to Waurn Ponds can board the following service, departing Geelong at 6.46pm.

From 9pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Southern Cross to Waurn Ponds for the entire journey.

From Waurn Ponds/Geelong:
From 8.00pm to last service – coaches replace trains from Waurn Ponds to Southern Cross for the entire journey.

All train services will be replaced by a mix of express and stopping all stations coach services, for more information, please see a V/Line staff member.

Please allow an additional 40 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

South Geelong Station reopening

26 Aug 2024

Geelong line

The upgraded South Geelong Station is set to open and trains will resume running from Monday 26 August.

There will be some works continuing over coming weeks, including to lifts, as crews complete this station upgrade.

Platform changes:
Trains can depart from either platform in both directions, so please check the Passenger Information Displays to ensure you are waiting on the correct platform for your service.

From Monday 26 August the following new facilities will be open to passengers:

• Accessible pedestrian ramps and upgraded level crossing at Yarra and Swanston streets to allow passengers to cross the rail line.
• The new station building will be available including enclosed waiting room, toilets and V/Line customer service.
• Pedestrian entrances at Yarra Street, Carr Street/Lonsdale Street, Verner Street and Swanston Street will be open including forecourts on both sides of the rail line.
• Two-thirds of the station car park will be open in the station precinct with vehicle access (entrance and exit) only from Verner Street / Bellerine Street. All of the accessible car parking spaces will be open and passenger drop off / pick up and taxi bays available on Carr Street. All car parks along Carr Street between Lonsdale and Swanston Streets will be open.
• Two parkiteers will be available for use, holding a total of 48 bikes (24 in each) and new bicycle hoops all around the station precinct.

There will be signage and wayfinding located around the station to help you understand these changes and access the station safely.

Marshall Station reopening

26 Aug 2024

Geelong line

The upgraded Marshall Station will open when trains return from first service on Monday 26 August.

There will be some works continuing over coming weeks, including to lifts, as crews complete this station upgrade.

Changes to platform one:
With the construction of a second platform at Marshall Station, the platform number of the existing platform will be switched following the return of train services on Monday 26 August. 
 
The existing platform one will become platform two and the new platform will become platform one.

Trains can depart from either platform in both directions, so please check the Passenger Information Displays to ensure you are waiting on the correct platform for your service.

The following new facilities will be open to passengers:

• Accessible pedestrian ramps and upgraded level crossing at Marshalltown Road to allow passengers to cross the rail line.
• The new station building will be available including enclosed waiting room, toilets and V/Line customer service.
• Pedestrian entrance at Marshalltown Road and the bus loop and forecourt directly in front of the new station building.
• Two-thirds of the station car park will be open with vehicle access (entrance and exit) only from the new entrance at Drews Road. 17 of the 20 accessible car parking spaces will be open.
• A parkiteer will be available for use, holding a total of 24 bikes and new bicycle hoops all around the station precinct.

Signage and wayfinding will be located around the station to help you understand these changes and access the station safely.

Works at Wyndham Vale Station

6 Feb - 11 Feb 2025

Geelong line

Works to improve the accessible ticket counter at Wyndham Vale Station will be carried out from Thursday 6 February to Monday 10 February.

While works are completed, there may be short periods when the ticket office is unstaffed.

During these times, passengers will not be able to purchase concession myki cards.

Passengers travelling on long distant services will need to purchase their tickets via the V/Line website, by calling 1800 800 007 or from the conductor onboard the train.

Myki facilities will be available at the station to buy and top up myki cards.

From Traralgon: The 7.38pm service will be replaced by coaches from East Pakenham to Southern Cross. The 6.53pm and 8.24pm services will be replaced by coaches to Southern Cross for the entire journey.   From Bairnsdale: The 6.06pm Bairnsdale to Southern Cross service will be replaced by coaches from East Pakenham to Southern Cross.

Extra weekend services on the Albury Line

Extra weekend services are running on the Albury Line on Saturdays and Sundays.

An additional Saturday train departs Albury at 7.55am, arriving at Southern Cross at 11.37am.

An additional Sunday train departs Southern Cross at 2.33pm, arriving in Albury at 6.16pm.

The special services operate as three-carriage trains and do not include a café bar.

All other weekend Albury services are running as currently scheduled with their carriage configuration and timetabled departure times.

The special services appear alongside timetabled services on the V/Line journey planner.

Departure times may change from week-to-week so please check the journey planner on the V/Line website or app before you travel.

All passengers travelling on Albury Line services are encouraged to plan ahead and reserve a seat by booking online, at a staffed V/Line or premium Metro station, by calling 1800 800 007 or by visiting a retail ticket agent.
