Coaches replace Swan Hill trains for part of the journey

Due to level crossing works, coaches replace Swan Hill Line trains for part of the journey on Saturday 20 April.

Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Bendigo. Trains will run between Bendigo and Swan Hill.
 
Coaches will express between Southern Cross and Bendigo, stopping only to pick up at Watergardens Station. Coaches will not stop at Footscray Station.

Coaches will depart Southern Cross up to 25 minutes earlier than usual train times.

Due to level crossing removal works, coaches replace Echuca Line trains for part of the journey on Saturday 20 April.

Coaches replace all trains between Southern Cross and Gisborne. Trains will run between Gisborne and Echuca.

Coaches will depart Southern Cross up to 25 minutes earlier than usual train times.

Replacement coaches will not stop at Watergardens Station, please check before you travel.

Coaches replace Bendigo Line trains for all or part of the journey

Due to level crossing removal and V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace Bendigo line trains for all or part the journey from Saturday 20 April to Tuesday 23 April.

Coaches replace all trains between Southern Cross and Gisborne. Trains will run between Gisborne and Bendigo.

Accessible bookings on the Swan Hill line

Bendigo line

Due to maintenance requirements, there will be fewer accessible carriages across the Bairnsdale, Swan Hill and Warrnambool lines over the coming months.
 
Please check the Journey Planner ahead of your date of travel (and again on the day of travel) to confirm an accessible carriage will be in service.
 
To help passengers plan their journey, we’ve updated the V/Line app and Journey Planner so it displays information about the train scheduled to operate their service, including whether there is an accessible carriage.
 
If a train is operating without an accessible carriage, V/Line will always provide alternate transport for passengers with accessibility needs, usually in the form of an accessible taxi.  
 
We encourage all passengers to book travel on long-distance journeys in advance. Passengers with accessibility needs can notify V/Line of their requirements when they book, so our staff can help ensure a comfortable journey.
 

Woodend Station upgrade works

Due to critical upgrade works continuing along sections of the Warrnambool Line, temporary speed restrictions will be in place on weekdays until Friday 31 May.

There will be changes to arrival and departure times so please plan ahead and check the temporary train timetable before you travel.

The following weekday trains to the city will depart Warrnambool, Sherwood Park and Terang stations earlier:

Upgrade works at South Geelong Station

Geelong line

Due to construction works, there will be ongoing changes to access and car parking at South Geelong Station.

Car park changes:

The Bellarine Street entrance into the car park has now opened. Entry to the car park is via Verner Street and Bellarine Street (see map).

The construction zone next to the station building has now expanded and vehicles can no longer enter the car park from Yarra Street.

Additional car parking will continue to be available at the temporary car park located on Lonsdale Street.

Construction vehicles will use the car park to access the work site, and there will be trucks, machinery, heavy vehicles and workers in the area.

Traffic management will be in place, including speed restrictions. Passengers are advised to allow extra travel time and take care at all times when moving around the station.
 
Carr Street changes:

Until early 2024, a section of Carr Street (see below map) will remain closed. From mid-January until late March, the one-way access along Lonsdale Street (between Dew and Yarra streets) will also close. There will be no parking and cars will need to detour via Mundy Street.

Pedestrians travelling from Swanston Street will need to detour via Lonsdale Street and use the level crossing gates on Yarra Street to enter the station.
 

There will be signage and maps located around the station to help you understand these changes and access the station safely.

Upgrade works at Marshall Station

13 Dec 2023

Geelong line

Due to works at Marshall Station, there are ongoing changes to access, parking and services.

Over the next few months, the number of available parking spaces at the station will be reduced and passengers may prefer to use alternate stations at South Geelong or Waurn Ponds.

Entry to the station will still be via Drews Road, with Marshalltown Road available for exiting traffic only.
 
The temporary car park will be closed. 
 
Platform changes: 

While these works take place there will be limited shelter and shade available on the platform.

Changes to pedestrian access:

Passengers are advised to use the station building stairs and accessible ramp when entering from the car park.

The bus loop at Marshall Station will remain closed.

Warrnambool Station upgrade works

We are upgrading the front entrance and amenities at Warrnambool Station.

Temporary toilets will be open for use during this time and there will be changes to the waiting room and station access.

Works will take place between 7.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday and on Saturdays as required.

Service changes on the Gippsland Line

13 Apr - 1 May 2024

Coaches replace Gippsland Line trains for all or part of the journey at various times from Saturday 13 April to Wednesday 1 May.

Works to be completed include Metro Tunnel Project works from 13-14 April, Gippsland Line Upgrade night works from 14-17 April and 28 April-1 May, and V/Line maintenance night works from 21-23 April.

Coaches replace trains on the Gippsland Line

3 May - 18 Jun 2024

Gippsland line

Due to Victoria's Big Build works, coaches replace trains on the Gippsland Line from Friday night 3 May until last service Tuesday 18 June.

The works include upgrading the Gippsland Line to carry out complex signalling work and adding two dedicated tracks at East Pakenham to allow V/Line trains to bypass metropolitan trains, making travel more reliable.

During this time, coaches will not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton and Berwick stations.

Bairnsdale Line

The 6.06pm Bairnsdale to Southern Cross train will run as train from Bairnsdale to Traralgon, then coaches from Traralgon to Southern Cross.

Saturday 4 May to Tuesday 18 June

Coaches replace Gippsland Line trains for the entire journey between Southern Cross, Traralgon and Bairnsdale.


The temporary coach replacement timetable for Gippsland 3 May – 18 June will be available to view shortly.


Information for passengers travelling to and from metropolitan stations

Replacement coaches will not stop at Flinders Street, Richmond, Clayton and Berwick stations.

Shuttle bus services will be available for passengers travelling between Caulfield, Dandenong and Pakenham.

Caulfield or Dandenong stations	Catch a V/Line replacement bus service to Pakenham Station, then a V/Line coach replacement service to Gippsland.

Richmond or Flinders Street stations	Catch a V/Line coach to Southern Cross Station, then a Metro Trains service.

Please note – buses replace trains on sections of the Pakenham Line at various times during this disruption - please check the PTV website before you travel from these stations.


Please allow an additional 60 minutes travel time for your journey.

Accessible bookings on the Bairnsdale line

Gippsland line

Due to maintenance requirements, there will be fewer accessible carriages across the Bairnsdale, Swan Hill and Warrnambool lines over the coming months.
 
Please check the Journey Planner ahead of your date of travel (and again on the day of travel) to confirm an accessible carriage will be in service.
 
To help passengers plan their journey, we’ve updated the V/Line app and Journey Planner so it displays information about the train scheduled to operate their service, including whether there is an accessible carriage.
 
If a train is operating without an accessible carriage, V/Line will always provide alternate transport for passengers with accessibility needs, usually in the form of an accessible taxi.  
 
We encourage all passengers to book travel on long-distance journeys in advance. Passengers with accessibility needs can notify V/Line of their requirements when they book, so our staff can help ensure a comfortable journey.
 

Temporary train timetable on the Shepparton Line

15 Apr - 15 Jul 2024

Following track works, Shepparton Line trains will run at slower than normal speeds along parts of the line to allow tracks to bed down.

There will be changes to arrival and departure times so please plan ahead and check the temporary train timetable before you travel.

Coaches replace evening trains on the Seymour Line

5 May - 8 May 2024

Due to V/Line maintenance works, coaches replace evening Seymour Line trains from Sunday 5 to Wednesday 8 May.

Sunday 5 May

From Southern Cross Station:
The 9.45pm service to Seymour will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.
 
From Seymour:
The 8.27pm service to Southern Cross will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.

Monday 6 to Wednesday 8 May

From Southern Cross Station:
The 9.43pm service to Seymour will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.
 
From Seymour:
The 9.56pm service to Southern Cross will be replaced by coaches for the entire journey.


Replacement coaches will be a mix of express and stopping all stations services.
Coaches will not stop at Essendon Station.

Please allow an additional 50 minutes’ travel time for your journey.

Coaches replace Albury Line trains

6 May 2024

Due to the Australian Rail Track Corporation completing Inland Rail construction work on the Albury Line, coaches will replace trains for the entire journey between Southern Cross and Albury on Monday 6 May.

Coaches will depart stations up to 7 minutes earlier than usual train times.

Extra weekend services on the Albury Line

Extra weekend services are running on the Albury Line on Saturdays and Sundays.

There will be a change in departure time for the Saturday service from Saturday 16 March to Saturday 10 August.

The additional Saturday train will depart Albury at 7.55am instead of 8.45am, arriving at Southern Cross at 11.37am.

New stopping pattern for this service is:

Depart Albury at 7.55am, Wodonga 8.06am, Chiltern 8.23am, Springhurst 8.32am, Wangaratta 8.48am, Benalla 9.13am, Violet Town 9.27am, Euroa 9.37am, Avenel 9.56am, Seymour 10.12am, Broadmeadows 11.04am, arriving Southern Cross at 11.37am.

An additional Sunday train departs Southern Cross at 2.33pm, arriving in Albury at 6.16pm.

The special services operate as three-carriage trains and do not include a café bar.

All other weekend Albury services are running as currently scheduled with their carriage configuration and timetabled departure times.

The special services appear alongside timetabled services on the V/Line journey planner.

Departure times may change from week-to-week so please check the journey planner on the V/Line website or app before you travel.

All passengers travelling on Albury Line services are encouraged to plan ahead and reserve a seat by booking online, at a staffed V/Line or premium Metro station, by calling 1800 800 007 or by visiting a retail ticket agent.
